Darryl is a partner in Jackson Russell’s Business Law team.

With over 25 years’ experience, Darryl specialises in franchising, mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiations, and business investment and succession.

He leads Jackson Russell’s franchise law team and works closely with established franchisors and businesses looking to expand through franchising.

Darryl is an active member of the Franchise Association of New Zealand (FANZ), both as a member of the board and as chair of FANZ’s Legislation and Advocacy committees.

He works with family-owned businesses, private investors, and subsidiaries of New Zealand and multinational corporates across industries including food and beverage, retail, manufacturing, business services and import/export.

Darryl provides tailored advice to support his clients’ long-term business goals and helps them navigate commercial contracts and transactions with practical and cost-effective solutions.

His international experience includes time at the London office of global law firm Allen & Overy (now A&O Shearman).

Darryl has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) and a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from the University of Canterbury.
